The Beauty Queen of Leenane: a Play

The Beauty of Queen Leenane

This year, NC Stage Company decided to put on a Halloween-appropriate play during the end of October, and they definitely hit the mark with "The Beauty Queen of Leenane", written by Martin McDonagh. It's hard to give the play justice in summary without giving away the ending, so all I will say is that it is a story about the tension between an Irish mother and daughter.

Carol Mayo Jenkins and Anne Thibault play the lead roles of mother and daughter, respectively. Both actors provide a supreme performance to stay true to the play's dark comedic atmosphere. Michael MacCauley and Casey Morris fill out the supporting cast, providing humor and depth to the performance.

The theater was packed with eager playgoers, reflecting the play's quality. Before entering the theater, I heard much buzz about the performance and it did not disappoint. The play runs through the 8th of November and I highly recommend it to any fan of dark comedy.

See the official NC Stage Company website for a full writeup of the play.
