Description:
$185 includes all materials. Materials provided include: silicone mold-making material, quick cast resin, a variety of paints, and jewelry findings for two necklaces. Metal casting is complicated and expensive – but it’s easy to make reproductions of your favorite found natural objects. In this class, we’ll learn to use a simple 2-part silicone mold making material and quick cast plastic resin to make your own necklace from nature! Bring your favorite bits of nature, and we’ll make molds, then cast them in lightweight plastic. Next, I’ll show you how to use reactive metallic paints to imitate the look of copper and bronze, complete with patinas! Finally, turn the casts into a beautiful wearable art jewelry. Shells, small fossils, and even pine cones work well. This process also works well for inclusions in mixed media sculpture. Note: These are press molds, meaning that the resulting form will be flat on the back. Ideal objects to cast include items that are firm, less than 3" long or wide and have a stable, non-porous surface. For example, it will be easier to cast a shell or acorn than a twig covered with flaking bark. And, it will be probably be easier to cast a twig than a leaf or bit of moss. Due to possible copyright infringement, I recommend against reproducing commercially cast items.

In 2014, she left her native state of Texas for the mountains of Western North Carolina; and the influence of her adopted Appalachian roots can be heard in the songs of her latest recording, "Case Of The Hopefuls" set to release in late November, 2017. Cary’s songs are simple, and quirky in nature, drawing you in with pop melodies and then hitting you over the head with lyrics that are deceptively deep. Guitars in the Classroom calls Cary “the Anne LaMott of songwriting…except she can get to the heart of things in 3 minutes instead of 200 pages.” She is also a dynamic teacher. Since moving to Asheville, Cary has been the full time music teacher at The Franklin School of Innovation teaching chorus, the history of rock and roll and the art of songwriting to students from 5th grade through 12th. Cary spends her summers teaching songwriting to cream of the crop high school students at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. Dick Siegel, Interlochen Program Director calls Cary "an outstanding educator. An accomplished songwriter and performer herself, Cary engages students with intelligence, warmth and humor quickly winning their affection and respect. In early 2011, Cary was spotted by the producers of Troubadour, TX, a new TV docu/drama series that debuted nationwide in September, 2011 on the CW network. Along with several other Texas songwriters, Cary was cast on the first season of the show. September 2012 saw Cary launch a Youtube channel called RealWomenReal Songs featuring herself and 13 of her favorite women writers who are committed to writing a song a week from a common prompt for an entire year. The collaborative features writers such as Amy Speace, Abbie Gardner (Red Moly), Raina Rose, Mira Stanley (The Sea The Sea) Nicolette Good and Carolann Solebello. This group (Season 2) now has 21 songwriters featuring Terri Hendrix, Tracy Grammer, Sara Hickman, Alice Peacock and Ellis among others. You can see their videos on Youtube and Facebook. "I love great musical surprises, and Troubadour,TX has allowed me to discover some really significant singer-songwriter surprises. And one of those is Cary Cooper. From the moment I met her, she was singing an original composition that was one of the most delightful surprises in my own personal journey of making music...The song was "Suzanne", and from that song on, Cary has continued to impress me not only with her original and unique lyrics, but with her enchanting, one-of-a-kind musical compositions that absolutely catch you by surprise, and then never leave you alone. A very special singer-songwriter with her best songs yet to come."Michael Blanton, President of Be Music and Entertainment, Nashville (Launched the careers of Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith)

34th ANNUAL BERNSTEIN FAMILY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR TO BRING LAUGHS, COMEDY SKETCHES TO MAGNETIC 375 Last year’s Bernstein Family Christmas Spectacular at the Magnetic Theatre saw the beloved and incomprehensible cousin Jerry get electrocuted, the introduction and training of Jimbo's Latin lover/husband Joaquin, and the usual family squabbles, Santa tirade, and dance numbers. Seeing what new debaucherous sketches the Bernstein writing team will come up with has become a tradition for many Ashevillians, and this year promises to be an exciting one for audiences. What surprises will the latest Spectacular bring? Head writer Lucia Del Vecchio (well known for such hits as MILF: The Musical and Off the Rails, as well as last year’s Bernstein) is at the helm as Director for the first time, and the family is also welcoming a new cast member, Sarah Felmet. “2017 has not been a year filled with laughs,” Del Vecchio said, “and that means we need the Bernsteins more than ever. I don’t think audiences will be disappointed--Baby Jesus is keeping his diaper flask close by.” The annual Spectacular, now in its eighth year, is written from scratch each year by the team of Del Vecchio, Jim Julien, Peter Lundblad and Genevieve Packer. Newcomer Felmet joins cast mainstays Tracey Johnston-Crum (4-time Mountain Xpress Best of WNC winner, Local Actress), Darren Marshall, Erik Moellering and Glenn Reed. Described by the Asheville Scene as “the holiday show to see in Asheville”, the always R-rated Bernsteins and a host of other characters from the Christmas canon come together to bring The 34th Annual Bernstein Family Christmas Spectacular to the River Arts District. This favorite Christmas production will return November 30th through December 22nd at Magnetic 375, with fourteen chances to party with the family. As with past years, the entire run of The 34th Annual Bernstein Family Christmas Spectacular is expected to sell out in advance. Directed by Lucia Del Vecchio. Starring Tracey Johnston-Crum, Darren Marshall, Erik Moellering, Glenn Reed and Sarah Felmet. Scenic Design by Kehren Barbour. Sound Design by Mary Zogzas. Choreography by Elizabeth Evans. Props by Jim Julien. Lighting Design by Jason Williams. Stage Management by Deanna Braine. Produced by Chall Gray The 34th Annual Bernstein Family Christmas Spectacular will be performed at Magnetic 375, located at 375 Depot St, in the River Arts District of Asheville, Nov. 30-Dec 2, Dec 7-9, 14-16, 20-22. Showtimes 7:30 p.m. nightly, 10:00 p.m. late shows December 9 and 16. Advance tickets are strongly recommended. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.themagnetictheatre.org.

18+ to Attend | $10 ADV / $15 DOS CRAIG CAMPBELL Craig Campbell has never taken a backseat to anything. He’s certainly never taken a backseat in his career as one of Country’s brightest rising stars who launched onto the Country music scene in 2011 and continues to exist in a perfect sweet spot between tradition and modernity.  That doesn't mean the road to five consecutive charted hits and over a half million downloads has always been easy. There have been bumps along the way for the Georgia-born artist, on his path from the small town of Lyons to Nashville's Music Row. But through hits like "Keep Them Kisses Comin’," "Fish" and "Family Man," and countless shows, he's kept his eyes on his mission – to bring his fans true country music with a spin all his own, through timeless songs that tell his life story. And with his forthcoming debut project on RED BOW Records – flag-shipped by the earnest “Outskirts of Heaven,” which was co-written by Campbell – he is ready to share the next chapter: where that timelessness meets the here and now.  "There are a lot of sides to me that people haven’t yet seen," he says, currently at work on his third and most versatile record. "You can expect some great music with a little more energy, and a lot more fire."

Alien Music Club is essentially an on-going studio project conceived and produced by Jonathan Pearlman (JP) of Asheville, NC.JP grew up hearing light jazz and pop music. His first musical icons were Elvis Presley and Bobby Darin. He was performing for audiences at age seven. He began playing guitar at age nine. JP’s influences are far-reaching, absorbing Lennon/McCartney, Hendrix, Clapton, and Motown, during the 60’s. Jazz-fusion bands of the early 70’s were also influential, like Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report and Frank Zappa. These became JP’s earliest jazz-rock influences. Other influences include Tom waits, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Donald Fagan, Ian Hunter, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Beck, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, Charles Mingus, Paul Simon, Todd Rungren and Joe Walsh.JP was continually writing, singing and playing in bands throughout his college years, and he graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Broadcasting in 1978. Fast forward the next 20 years or so, and he had become a successful videographer and producer, all the while pursuing his music. During the 1990’s, JP adopted the pseudonym “Alien Music Club”. The idea of a club came from the desire to incorporate the talents of other musicians and friends in the creative process. The “Alien” concept comes from the wildly eclectic nature of JP’s music, which defies categorization. “It’s really a musical melting pot,” says JP.

Genre: Funk/FolkCover: Donations @ DoorShow: 10PMAges: 21+GooseGoose is a Funk-Folk band based out of Norwalk, Connecticut. Rick Mitarotonda is the guitarist-singer-songwriter whose folky, hummable melodies are supported by keyboardist Kristopher Yunker, and a deep-pocket rhythm section of Trevor Weekz on Bass, Ben Atkind on drums, and Aaron Hagele on percussion. The band’s music is both memorable and danceable; an organic and easy-to-love mix of funk and contemporary folk, with touches of reggae, jazz, blues, and rock.Tracked in a snowbound lakeside New Hampshire cabin, with mixing and mastering at the Factory Underground in Norwalk, CT, Goose’s debut album ‘Moon Cabin’ was released in early 2016. Moon Cabin traverses diverse musical terrain with 3 part harmony vocals and hooks so big you can hang your hat on them; funky improvised solos and adventurous musical interludes. A performance at The Capitol Theatre in October 2016 saw the addition of Goose’s most recent members, Kristopher Yunker (Alan Evans Playonbrother, On The Spot Trio, Wubakia, and Jen Durkin and The Business), and Aaron Hagele, who has shared the stage with such acts as Particle, George Porter Jr, The Werks, and many more. With a second album on the way and tour dates continuing to ramp up, the Goose is getting loose.web: http://www.gooseband.us/vid: https://youtu.be/cPBSrUqohJM

Asheville Gallery of Art December 2017 Show “Exploring the Human Figure” “Exploring the Human Figure” for December at Asheville Gallery of Art Asheville Gallery of Art’s December show features the work of Elinor Bowman, whose watercolor interpretations of the human figure capture both spontaneity and grace of movement. The show runs December 1-31 during gallery hours, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. The gallery, located at 82 Patton Avenue in Asheville, across from Pritchard Park, will host a reception for the artist on Friday, December 1, from 5-8 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited to stop by. “My favorite subject is people, primarily painting live models. No matter how many times I’ve painted a model, some other aspect shows up. And new models are a completely new experience,” says the artist. The paintings in this show were all painted at an open studio at the Swannanoa Art League in Black Mountain, NC. “Watercolor, black walnut ink, and Chinese ink are currently my favorite mediums. I love the spontaneity, with results in the painting which may not have been expected or predicted.” Bowman shared how she works from life. “The paintings of clothed models were completed when the model maintained one pose (in twenty minute increments) for three hours, although I sometimes paint several paintings during the session. The nude model poses were usually short poses – five two-minute poses, two ten-minute poses, then twenty minute poses for the remainder of the session.” Before taking up painting, Bowman worked with figures of another sort. She was a consulting actuary, working with hospitals and government employers who provided pension plans for their employees. “I began painting in my 50s, and love it. I did take a figure drawing class when I was younger, but never pursued art. After careers in business, painting is so enticing.” Bowman’s work, as well as the paintings of the other 30 gallery members will be on display and for sale through the month of December. For further information about this show, you can contact Asheville Gallery of Art at (828) 251-5796, visit the gallery website at www.ashevillegallery-of-art.com, or go to the gallery Facebook page.

Description:

For 28 years, comedian Kathleen Madigan has been touring 250 nights on the road and squeezing in hour-long filmed specials and performances on every late night show ever made. From 25 appearances on the Tonight Show and multiple appearances on Letterman and Conan to recently riding around with Jerry Seinfeld in his internet series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” Madigan is still having a blast and selling out theaters across the country.

Her most recent special “Bothering Jesus” is her fifth hour long standup special and will be her third special to be available on Netflix. “I love working with them. They’re the young people. Network TV will need to adapt quickly to even have a chance to stay in the game. Netflix gets it and makes it so easy for us.  Instead of it being a battle of content and rules, it’s just fun. What it’s supposed to be,” she says.

So how is it, the Detroit Free Press asks, “that Madigan has yet to be cast as the wise cracking a) best friend b) office worker or c) martini-swilling mother-in- law in any of countless
sitcoms? We’re thinking it’s because she’s so irreplaceable on the stage. She’s described as the funniest woman doing stand-up right now but no gender qualifier is necessary. Along with Lewis Black, Brian Regan and Jim Gaffigan, she’s one of the funniest stand-up comedians of her generation.”

“I just want to tell jokes. I didn’t start doing open mic to become an actor on a sitcom or in a TV commercial. Those things never ever crossed my mind,” Madigan says. “For a few of us working, telling jokes was our main goal. I don’t have any more goals. Can’t you ever have a goal, reach it and enjoy it? Our society is being driven by type-A lunatics who say you have to set more goals. Well maybe they do but we all don’t. Have a seat, grab a drink and enjoy the fact you made it to the goal. Maybe that’s the Irish in me talking though.”

Madigan has performed internationally at festivals in theaters in Ireland, England, Hong Kong, Australia and has filmed six Montreal Gala Shows at the Montreal Comedy Festival for CBC TV. “I never realized how middle America I am until performing overseas. It all works but needs some tweaking when the crowd isn’t all Americans. It’s a good challenge and made me a better comedian.”

She’s won the American Comedy Award for “Best Female Comedian” and the Phyllis Diller award for “Best Female Comedian.” She has written and produced for Lewis Black’s “Root of All Evil” on Comedy Central and done multiple USO tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. “The USO shows are the best. Trust me, no crowd is as appreciative and fired up to see any entertainer. I’m glad I have the chance because God knows I don’t wanna have to do their job!”

Madigan is an advocate and fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis and Autism.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, she splits her time between the road, LA and her Ozark home in Missouri.

Curated by Akira Satake The thing that defines a tradition is the way it grows and develops over time.  No traditional art form, whether it be music, painting or ceramics, remains static and easily labeled for very long.  New influences are always coming into play, as upcoming generations learn to appreciate and revere the work of established artists but are inevitably inspired to interpret the art in new and sometimes brilliant ways. This year, we look towards a fresh generation of potters inspired by the rich traditions of our region’s ceramics.  We are very proud to feature these exceptional young artists in the exhibition, “Intro — Emerging Ceramicists in Western North Carolina,” and we look forward to seeing how their talents and vision shape the traditions of our ceramic heritage in the coming years.  Participating Artists Include: Matt Wegleitner, Tara Underwood, Micah Thanhauser, Dustin Fowler, Kristen Schoonover, The Bright Angle, Nina Kawar , Amanda Holloman – Cook, Anja Bartles, Candice Hensley, Molly Morning Glory, Samantha Oliver

Description:
Asheville Gallery of Art’s December show features the work of Elinor Bowman, whose watercolor interpretations of the human figure capture both spontaneity and grace of movement.

The Axis Syllabus is a body of research relevant to dynamic movement. This class will provide a clear mapping of soft tissue logic for entering and exiting a surface, whether it be a floor or another moving body. We will also practice some spiraling pathways useful for greater ease while changing levels. Tired of all those bruises from that hard floor when you land? Come and practice alternatives. THE C-STARS WILL BE FALLING: ACCELERATED PATHWAYS THROUGH THE FLOOR by Nuria Bowart Falling off our center of gravity allows for us to harness our potential energy and to take a ride on the force of gravity. This class will elaborate on the concept of chronological architecture as it relates to moving in and out of the floor and one another in dynamic ways. The arms and the legs are useful to propel, absorb and pivot around. Acceleration happens, and can be ridden. In this class we will practice riding this body-form safely and efficiently through the energy of a fall. Using some basic movement patterns, such as C-Star, offered through the Axis Syllabus, to help us to better understand useful mechanics for falling. While in this class, the main partner will be the floor, we will be practicing many of the patterns in partners and groups as well. On Nuria Bowart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S25pVr5N4AA http://nuriabowart.com/ * * * DANIEL BEAR DAVIS : Interwoven: A Workshop in Axis Syllabus and Contact Improvisation by Daniel Bear Davis The Axis Syllabus offers a groundswell of relevant and specific information into healthy movement habits for moving humans living in a dynamic world. In this dance workshop, we will look at details of our own anatomy, refined over thousands of years of evolution, to gain clues about how to move in collaboration with our own fascinating design. As we grow in our kinetic potential, we can meet our dance partners with increased access to range and choice. This workshop will weave explorations of healthy and creative relationships between the many parts of our selves, with other humans in partner dancing, and within larger networks. We will identify boundaries and limitations as building blocks of resilience. We will explore ourselves and our shared dances as tensegrity structures, cultivating out integrity through tensile resistance. We will investigate the self within interconnected networks and interconnectivity within the self. And well do a whole lot of dancing.

Crystal’s love for music developed at an early age from a need to find peace in a chaotic world. Through art and creation, Crystal was able to direct her energy and emotion, finding a way to mend a mind in turmoil. For her, music was always the most effective form of catharsis, and she would play for anyone, anywhere. In her own words, “my guitar was an appendage. I couldn’t live without it.” Dead set on a career in music, Crystal moved to Chicago as a teenager, where she spent her days performing underground on subway platforms in between working odd jobs. While in the big city, she broadened her musical horizons and shared her talents with a variety of venues, ultimately auditioning for the ninth season of American Idol. Crystal’s time on the show proved to be well spent, as she immediately left the the soundstage for the recording studio. Since her introduction to the world through television, Crystal has released two LP’s, two EPs, and several singles. Additionally, she has used her talents to benefit several causes close to her heart, and has become an advocate and inspiration for people living with Type 1 Diabetes. However, it is what’s in front of her, not what’s behind her, that will define Crystal’s personal and professional evolution. The accomplished singer-songwriter is set to release a new project – a live album, recorded at the Kitchen Sink Studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico, cleverly titled Alive. Not only is the title a play on words, representing the rawness of the tracks, but it pertains to the place where Crystal currently is in her life. That place is one of joy, fulfillment, and stability for Crystal and her eight year old son, Tony. To create her newest project, Crystal called on her “chosen family” of musicians. The combination of keeping those she cherishes close to her and taking an honest look at life has resulted in the truest music she has released to date. Crystal has drawn on her various influences — across folk-pop, classic rock, soul, blues and country — to make the kind of music that resonates with her spirit. It is both tender and tough, rough yet polished, and it encompasses many genres without falling neatly into one category. As one of her songwriting partners describes it, Crystal has “a voice like dirt and diamonds.” Her music is intended to bring a positive message of love and light to the world – things that folks will be able to take with them on their own journey, so that they, too, can feel truly alive. Similar to her beginnings, Crystal intends to make music that has healing power, but at this point, she sees far beyond her own troubles. Her live show is a safe space for concertgoers. Attend a Crystal Bowersox show, and you just might see a grown man cry and a child dance simultaneously. You’ll also likely get the chance to meet her personally; Crystal is typically the first one to arrive and the last one to leave the venue. Meeting with the fans and hearing their personal stories is something Crystal considers a blessing in her life. By reliving her own painful moments in song, Crystal hopes to transcend that pain, lifting herself and her audience to a higher place. In the opening lines of “A Broken Wing” she sings, “I know there’s beauty in the burden / And even on my darkest day that sun will shine.” Crystal’s story is one of resilience and perseverance, and it’s evident in every note of her newest release, Alive.

Ray Scott - Those Jeans - Official Music Video Ray Scott - Drinkin' Beer - Official Music Video Ray Scott - Ain't Always Thirsty (Official Music Video) The digital music revolution has turned out to be a “Rayincarnation” for acclaimed country storyteller Ray Scott. While a label-free utopia where artistic merit trumps popular whims remains as unlikely as it always was, the internet age has allowed a certain kind of creator to connect with an audience and chart a self-determined course… when helps explain why Ray Scott has chosen to title his fifth studio album, Guitar For Sale.

“This is sort of a regroup for me – not only artistically, but in terms of my career,” he says. “My music and my sense of where it fits in the music business has really taken shape over the past several years. So this is an introduction to that for people who may not be familiar with me, and it’s a defining of that vision for those who already know my music.”

For many, Ray Scott needs no introduction. Warner Bros. released Scott’s debut album My Kind Of Music in 2005 to enormous critical acclaim. The first single and title track cracked the top 40, but a combination of label politics and radio’s reluctance to embrace his fresh approach to country traditions had him off the label less than two years later. But a funny thing happened on the way to post-label obscurity – a level of success many major labels might envy.

Crazy Like Me (2008) was put together to have a project to sell on the road, but ended up getting strong critical reaction and surprising sales. Encouraged, Ray connected with producer Dave Brainard (Jerrod Niemann, Brandy Clark) to record Rayality (2011). The single “Those Jeans” received substantial airplay on SiriusXM and went on to sell a couple hundred thousand copies. “ I kept writing and still had a pile of songs we didn’t get to on Rayality,” he says. “So we decided to amp things up and make a record exactly the way we wanted.”

As a result, Ray Scott was the most descriptive name possible for the collection. It's country music the way I interpret it,” he says. “Every artist borrows and basically bastardizes whatever they grew up loving. In my case, it was a combination of a lot of great ‘70s country. My dad was a great singer and I used to hear him do all that stuff.”

“The good news is the kind of music I’m making now is not age-specific. I’m not out there wiggling my ass for anybody, so it’s about telling stories, making people smile and making them feel something,” says Scott.

“I understand that sometimes the business has a place for what I do and sometimes it doesn’t,” Ray says. “But what I do has kept me alive out there in the world because it is different enough that people get passionate about it. They stick with it. I don’t sound like anybody else, and I don’t want to.”

For his new project, Guitar For Sale, Ray decided to change up producers. “I went with my extremely talented friend, Michael Hughes. I’ve always pushed it in different directions here and there stylistically, but the lyrics and the voice keep the common thread running through it… Same this time as well,” says Scott.
“I went back a few years and recorded a handful of favorites I’ve had in my back pocket, as well as a few newer ones I loved. We live tracked this one… haven’t done that in a few years. It brought back a new energy, with a few new musicians, including the guys in my touring band. It’s a different sound, but familiar too. It was a step in a good direction,” says Ray about Guitar For Sale.

Genre: ReggaeCover: Donations @ DoorShow: 10PMAges: 21+Mighty MysticConsidered one of the new leaders in the U.S Reggae scene, reggae artist Mighty Mystic’s fresh sound and musical diversity have proved to be a magnet for music lovers in search of that next level sound that has been missing in the reggae genre. It has attracted listeners of all ages and from all walks of life. A charismatic man on a mission, Mighty Mystic has gone from being a fan of reggae music to being a contributor to the art. Mighty Mystic came on the scene in 2006 after scoring his first international hit with the song “Riding on the Clouds.” However, it wasn’t until the release of his first album “Wake up the World” (2010) that he became a household name. “Wake up the World” boasted several standouts, such as “Revolution,” “Riding on the Clouds,” “Original Love,” & “Slipped Away” with appearances from reggae icon Shaggy and roots rocker Lutan Fyah. Mystic continues to wake up the world with his high energy, message driven brand of reggae music which he emphatically calls “HARD ROOTS.” It is this unique spin on classic reggae blended with Hip Hop & Rock that has catapulted him to the forefront of today’s Reggae Revival.THE EARLY YEARSMighty Mystic was born Kevin Mark Holness in the farming community of Goshen, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica to parents Morris & Sonia Holness. As a child, Kevin showed early interest in his native island’s music. It was common to hear him singing the latest tunes while imitating the actions of popular reggae artists. In 1989, the family relocated to Boston, MA in search of a new life. Though oceans apart Kevin never lost the passion for his beloved reggae music. In the mid 90s Kevin began tagging alongside his older brother Stephen who had made a name for himself in the local Hip Hop scene. Kevin saw this as an opportunity and began showcasing his reggae vibes at every chance he was given. It was almost instantaneous, but young Kevin had been bitten by the music bug. The name “Mystic” coincidentally was the nickname given to his father as a child and also the area in Boston where Kevin grew up. So it was only fitting that Kevin would become Mystic. By the end of his teenage years young Mystic had already developed a core following and began to take the steps necessary to build for the future. Over the next few years Mystic would have several successful regional releases as well as features on VP Records Riddim Driven compilations that brought added attention to the budding Mystic. In 2005 Mystic and Producer Mike Cip of Split2nd Ent hit the studio to develop a more authentic and true sound. The duo would return with perhaps the biggest reggae record of 2006 with the song “Riding on the Clouds”. This was the beginning of the “Mighty Mystic.”MYSTIC OF TODAYMighty Mystic has turned himself into one of the more sought after U.S based Reggae artists on today’s scene. His brand of “HARD ROOTS” with his high energy stage performance has been a magnet for the young enthusiastic reggae fan base. He has managed to hold firm to his Jamaican roots while adding elements of Hip Hop & Rock giving Mystic a more unique sound. In 2014 Mystic made more headlines with the release of his sophomore album “Concrete World”. The album quickly jumped to the top of the Billboard Reggae charts when the first single “Cali Green” hit the airwaves. This ferocious marijuana banger became an anthem for smokers all over and saw itself on several compilations including the popular annual VP Records release of “Hi Grade Ganja Anthems 4”. The following is a quote by Valentin Zill of the highly respected Reggaeville: “Almost all recent reggae success stories involve an artist that doesn’t shy away from stretching the “boundaries” of the reggae genre. “Concrete World” is an eclectic album of cutting-edge quality that manages to keep a distinct reggae feel to a surprising extent. It is a blueprint for contemporary modern roots, one that could define 2014… And so it did! Mystic has been described as man on a musical mission. Touring and shared the stage with some of Reggae’s biggest names such as Steel Pulse, Damian Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Lee Scratch Perry, Barrington Levy, Buju Banton, The Wailers, Shaggy, Collie Buddz, Sean Paul, Badfish, Dirty Heads, SOJA, John Brownʼs Body, Luciano, Third World, Freddie McGregor, and Capleton to name a few. His message of peace, love, struggle and perseverance isn’t something new under the sun. However, it is the passion and flare delivered by Mystic that has the people saying yes. With two successful albums (Wake up the World 2010, Concrete World 2014) under his belt Mystic is gearing up for an action packed 2016 which will see the March 11th release of his third album “The Art of Balance”, along with a U.S tour to follow. This project will be released through California based Roots Musician Records which is the brain child of E.N Young (member of Tribal Seeds) and will mark the first time these two reggae entities will be working together.
