Description:
Alien Music Club is essentially an on-going studio project conceived and produced by Jonathan Pearlman (JP) of Asheville, NC.JP grew up hearing light jazz and pop music. His first musical icons were Elvis Presley and Bobby Darin. He was performing for audiences at age seven. He began playing guitar at age nine. JP’s influences are far-reaching, absorbing Lennon/McCartney, Hendrix, Clapton, and Motown, during the 60’s. Jazz-fusion bands of the early 70’s were also influential, like Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report and Frank Zappa. These became JP’s earliest jazz-rock influences. Other influences include Tom waits, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Donald Fagan, Ian Hunter, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Beck, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, Charles Mingus, Paul Simon, Todd Rungren and Joe Walsh.JP was continually writing, singing and playing in bands throughout his college years, and he graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Broadcasting in 1978. Fast forward the next 20 years or so, and he had become a successful videographer and producer, all the while pursuing his music. During the 1990’s, JP adopted the pseudonym “Alien Music Club”. The idea of a club came from the desire to incorporate the talents of other musicians and friends in the creative process. The “Alien” concept comes from the wildly eclectic nature of JP’s music, which defies categorization. “It’s really a musical melting pot,” says JP.

He’s also worked with Hal Galper, Glen Velez, and Eugene Friesen; Chris Rosser, an accomplished pianist, composer / producer, renowned for his outstanding performances on a variety of indigenous stringed instruments. With sensual magnetism in her voice, honesty in her lyrics and elegance in her melodies, her songs cast a wonderful spell. Give 'Carnival of Hopes' a listen, you will be taken on a lovely ride deep in the mystical world on an artist on the rise."-Mary Gauthier, American songwriter and performerLauded by UK music reviewer Three Chords and the Truth as sounding like she was “…born to gypsy poets and raised by Emmylou Harris,” Asheville, North Carolina-based songstress Jane Kramer has garnered international recognition for the sultry, heartrending originality of her vocals and for the heavy-hitting lyrical eloquence of her songwriting. With deep roots in the traditional music of her beloved Appalachia, Kramer’s songs are introspective and gritty. They sweep listeners down the gravel roads and southern coastal highways, midnight truck stops and lonely motel rooms of “hard learning” and lead home to the Blue Ridge Mountains with moving acceptance of our flawed human experience.Following the February 2016 release of her second solo studio album Carnival of Hopes, Kramer has been touring nationally and internationally. Her live performances are interactive, moving and memorable, both when Kramer is backed by her full band featuring the virtuostic instrumentalists that comprise Asheville’s Free Planet Radio and Billy Cardine of Acoustic Syndicate, as well as when she is solo, wielding a guitar and her unforgettable songs.Quoted as “…an artist on the rise” by acclaimed American songwriter Mary Gauthier, Jane Kramer has performed with such well-known artists as Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls, Appalachian troubadour Malcolm Holcombe, two-time Grammy award-winning bassist Eliot Wadopian, Joan Osborne and Leyla McCalla.

Genre: RockShow: Doors 9PM | Show 10PMTickets: adv. $10.00 | dos. $13.00Ages: 21+ JGBCB - Jerry Garcia Band Cover Band Formed in Athens, GA in 2012, JGBCB has been filling a hole in the Grateful Dead scene by offering up spirited covers of classic songs pulled exclusively from the repertoire of the Jerry Garcia Band, Garcia's long-running side-project. JGBCB has played shows from Key West to Colorado, exciting audiences with performances of beloved Garcia tunes not found within the traditional Grateful Dead catalog. The Jerry Garcia Band (famously known to Dead Heads as "JGB") was as much a songwriting outlet for Garcia as it was a chance for him to cover the music he loved. With Jerry and bassist John Kahn as the band's staples (playing together as far back as 1970), a varied set of keyboardists, drummers, and backup singers filled out the lineup over the years, each bringing their own unique character to the band. Over the course of it's existence, JGB played a number of diverse musical styles, covering artists such as The Beatles, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, The Band, Jimmy Cliff, Smoky Robinson, The Rolling Stones, the Wailers, J.J. Cale, and Ray Charles. The list goes on and on, recalling the names of rock, soul, and folk royalty. It is with a deep love of Jerry Garcia's music and the music that he loved that the members of JGBCB approach this project. The band came together for a single show in December 2012, which led to a local weekly residency in Athens. The positive response they received ultimately led JGBCB to tour around the country, giving fans all over a taste of the music of the Jerry Garcia Band. Count on hearing different material from night to night, consisting of JGB staples and deep cuts. How sweet it is! Video: https://youtu.be/VO_yoQM5rVw

David Bowie and his vast library of music need no introduction. Yet, even with dozens of charting hits and top-selling albums, many music fans have not delved into the hidden gems in Bowie’s catalog. The members of Wham Bam Bowie Band! are on a mission to not only faithfully present Bowie’s colossal classic-rock hits, but also to dig deep into the catalog and present the music that continues to influence generations and create new genres.

Lead singer Mark Casson, also of The Cheeksters, became a Bowie fan along with countless other young Brits when David Bowie and The Spiders From Mars appeared on Top Of The Pops, with their legendary, earth shattering performance of “Starman”. “We all knew this was something very, very different” says Mark, referring to watching the show live on TV in his native England.

Jump ahead 30 years, and Mark is a songwriter living in Nashville, releasing albums of Brit-invasion & Beatles/Bowie-influenced power pop with his wife Shannon in their critically-acclaimed band The Cheeksters. At some point Mark decided to do a one-off Bowie tribute show at a Nashville club for fun; it was a massive success, with people immediately requesting a repeat performance.

Moving to Asheville sometime later, Mark had always kept the idea alive to perform some Bowie music again, and has now assembled a band to fulfill it. Asheville based Singer/composer Aaron Price was the first to take up the challenge, adding keyboards and piano. Andre Cholmondeley of Project/Object, the alumni-based Zappa tribute band, eagerly signed up. On bass is Brett Spivey, who with Cholmondeley has an ambient/world duo called Grounded. Rounding out the band on drums is Jim Neu, who also plays with Who tribute band The Whooligans.

Wham Bam! Bowie Band! has decided to pay tribute to David Bowie’s catalog by starting with his earliest era. The band plans to work their way thru the catalog in, roughly, chronological order. Their first run of shows features classics from the Hunky Dory and Space Oddity albums, with the highlight of the evening being a complete performance of Bowie’s influential breakthrough “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars”

Wham Bam! Bowie Band! brings Bowie’s iconic music to life, onstage once again. Unlike many artists that are paid tribute to, of course Bowie is still very much an active and creative force, with his highly acclaimed and international #1 record “The Next Day” reminding fans everywhere that he is always one to watch.

Wham Bam! Bowie Band! has shown that an eclectic mix of fans from 16 to 60 and beyond are excited about seeing Bowie’s music performed live onstage, where it belongs.

Your Allure Presents: The Rave Before Christmas 3 Rooms / 10 DJs / Doors: 8:00 PM / Show: 9:00 PM / 21+ Featuring: Dieselboy At a time when headline "DJs" shamelessly play pre-programmed - even pre-recorded - sets and the masses mindlessly embrace the charade, Dieselboy - The Destroyer - stands out as a rare virtuoso of the art and craft of live DJing. His complex, high voltage, take-no-prisoners sets have created legions of loyal die-hard fans around the world. Arguably no other DJ mixes live - on four decks - with more precision, imagination, intensity, energy and finesse. For over two decades one of the world’s most influential ambassadors of drum and bass, Dieselboy (Damian Higgins) is America’s most iconic underground bass music curator and pioneer. Dieselboy was the first drum and bass artist to chart a single on Billboard’s dance chart with “Invid” in 2000, and was the first American voted into the UK-based Drum & Bass Arena Top 10 DJs online poll in 2004. He's been featured on magazine covers, interviewed for documentaries, TV and radio, heard on MTV, ESPN and action/adventure video games, and sponsored by DC Shoes and Pioneer Pro DJ. Dieselboy’s DJ career began in northwest Pennsylvania DJing high school dances. While a student at the University of Pittsburgh he learned to beat-match vinyl live on college radio and played trance, happy hardcore and breaks at house parties. His 1994 mixtape “The Future Sound of Hardcore” led to out of town bookings and his expanding popularity and technical skills led to the honor of being the first American asked by a British drum and bass label to mix a compilation (“Drum & Bass Selection USA,” 1996). In 1997 Dieselboy moved to Philadelphia to be drum and bass buyer and T-shirt designer for seminal rave culture/record store 611. In 1998 Dieselboy was the first American drum and bass DJ to be nominated for Best Drum & Bass DJ at the Global DJ Mix Awards and tied with LTJ Bukem. From 1998 to 2004 Dieselboy hosted North America’s premier drum and bass weekly “Platinum” at club Fluid. In 2000, Dieselboy co-founded with fellow Stateside drum and bass warriors AK1200 and DJ Dara the Planet of the Drums super crew (with MC Messinian) - electronic dance music's longest running annual tour, now in its 18th year (2017). In 2002 Dieselboy founded Human Imprint, North America’s most prolific, dynamic and innovative drum and bass label, and is co-founder of SubHuman (dubstep, electro, trap), under the umbrella of Planet Human. Planet Human is beloved by its fans for the quality of its next level high energy releases by international vanguard artists including Bare (US), Mark Instinct (Canada), Mayhem (US), Muffler (Finland), Nerd Rage (US), Nightwalker (UK), NumberNin6 (US), Pixel Fist (UK), Subshock (Spain), Zardonic (Venezuela), and Faces of Def (Dieselboy's collaboration with Mark the Beast). Dieselboy continuously raises the bar for the DJ mix as an art form, and each of his from 1992 to his latest tour de force “Dieselboy - The Destroyer” stands the test of time. State of the art showcases of producers and graphic artists of each respective musical era, Dieselboy’s mixes have been described as “cinematic” and “intoxicating.” Support From: Liminal DNB Asheville, NC J Bengal Asheville, NC Diskull Myrtle Beach, SC g3ms Asheville, NC Shyguy Asheville, NC VVitchboy Asheville, NC The Last WordBenders Asheville, NC Kangarot Asheville, NC DJAlice Asheville, NC Scarlaween Asheville, NC Special Guests: Klose Asheville, NC Vendors: The glownection Marion, NC RitualWear Asheville, NC
