Asheville Van Life Rally Returns for Year Three Celebrating the Adventure Vehicle Community Asheville, NC: Asheville’s third annual Van Life Rally returns to the Wedge Brewery at Foundation, at 5 Foundy Street, on September 28, 4-10pm. Over 100 adventure vehicles will be on display as a fundraiser for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity. Live music will be provided by Pleasure Chest and DJ Marley Carroll. Outdoor brands such as REI, Eurosport, Fifth Element Camping, Industry Nine, Sylvan Sport, YETI, NRS, & more will be represented. Admission is free for spectators, but vehicle owners and vendors must register via Eventbrite for a spot ($30 and $100 respectively). The Wedge Brewery is donating $1/pour back, in support of the event. The #vanlife community is growing rapidly, and Asheville is a hub of activity in the Southeast for all sorts of vehicle owners eager to hop on the road and take off for adventures. This event is for all the nomads, dirtbags, van conversion engineers, road trip dreamers, and weekend warriors to celebrate the wanderlust spirit together, AND for the community to come check out what the rage is all about. There will be a mobile recording studio, traveling unicycle gallery, mobile boutique, outdoor brands, food trucks, and vendors also participating in the Asheville Van Life Rally. The first Asheville Van Life Rally was in 2015, in conjunction with the 5Point Adventure Film Festival, no longer active in Asheville. Former 5Point Asheville festival manager and national events director for 5Point, Micah Pulleyn, is continuing to produce the Van Life Rally, as the participants of the past two rallies urged her to continue the tradition. Micah, now a full time event producer, says, “this is primarily a community-driven event, made for, by, and with the van life family in our region. I am only here to create the opportunity for connection, creativity, and fellowship--the members of the community are the real keepers of this event. They are the ones who urged me to keep it going, and I listened. I am honored to bring people together--that’s what I love to do! At the time of this release, sponsors include the Wedge Brewery, UJoint Camper Vans, and Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine. Sponsor opportunities are still available. Description:
For our next Super Saturday Wine Tasting, we're pouring some world class wines perfect for fall.  It's been a great summer, but I think we're all ready for cooler weather, bigger and richer wines, and heartier meals.  This guarantees to be an epic wine tasting featuring some truly special wines, and you're invited.  Bring a friend! I can promise you that this will be one of the best wine tastings of the fall.  We're really going all out for this one!  I'm talking about Venge Cabernet Sauvignon, a new red blend that will make you forget about The Prisoner, and a stunning 2015 Red Burgundy. Yep, I let Ben, Will, and Sarah pick out the lineup for this one, and they didn't hold back. It's just $5 (free for Grape Nuts) to taste all 6 premium wines, and the prices range from $20 to $50.  Additionally, all of the tasting wines will be aggressively discounted.  I am proud of all of the value wines we have to offer, but it's always fun to pour and taste some topnotch wines from some first-class producers.  Check out the lineup of wines below, and don't forget the date.  Stop by, taste, learn, stock up and save big on a bunch of awesome wines.  No RSVP is required - all you have to do is stop by, grab a glass and a tasting/sales sheet, and have a good time. The Wines Save big on all of the tasting wines!  Mix any 3 of them and save 10%, mix any 6 of them and save 15%, or mix any 12 or more of them and save 20%! 1. 2016 Smith Story Sauvignon Blanc (Sonoma County, California) - The new vintage of our favorite California Sauvignon Blanc is super!  Ripe and textured, yet crisp and balanced, it is laced with notes of mixed citrus, mineral and herb. 2. 2014 Michel Gassier Costieres de Nimes Blanc "Lou Coucardie" (Rhone Valley, France) - We poured the 2013 version of this one a few weeks back and sold out in less than an hour!  It's less than $30, and it tastes like top-flight White Chateauneuf du Pape.  Full bodied, rich, and flowing with ripe notes of white peach, nectarine, lemon custard and white flowers, it's the perfect white for richer fall meals. 3. 2015 Capitain-Gagnerot Bourgogne Rouge (Burgundy, France) - In case you didn't hear, Vintage 2015 was marvelous in Burgundy, and this is one of the best deals out there.  From a single vineyard planted back in the 1950's, this is elegant and sophisticated Pinot Noir that won't break the bank. 4. 2015 Jiménez-Landi Bajondillo (Mentrida, Spain) - Vigneron Daniel Landi is leading the pack of Mentrida producers to greater heights.  His Bajondillo red blend combines 85% Garnacha from old vines with little bits of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.  The resulting wine is medium bodied, silky and savory with earthy, leathery, smoky notes on top of juicy berry fruit.  I love how this wine manages to balance weight and power with elegance. 5. 2015 Tank Garage Winery All or Nothing Red Blend (Napa Valley, California) - This aptly named winery is located in an old garage in Calistoga, and their wines are super!  The All or Nothing Red Blend is 100% Napa Zinfandel,  Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Malbec, and a few others.  It is big, broad, plush............we like to call it a "Pleasure Bomb" of a wine! 6. 2015 Venge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon "Silencieux" (Napa Valley, California) - This is a special treat as we only get 20 six-packs of this one per year!  Kirk Venge makes larger-than-life wines, and his 2015 Silencieux Cabernet is no exception.  From the hot and dry 2015 vintage, this one offers up classic notes of cassis, dark cherry, mocha and spicy, toasty oak. Asheville Gallery of Art October 2017 Show “Grounded: Landscapes Real and Imagined”  “Grounded: Landscapes Real and Imagined” for October at Asheville Gallery of Art Asheville Gallery of Art’s October show features the work of Cathyann Burgess, whose vibrant approach to subject matter mirrors nature’s fall exuberance. The show runs October 1-31 during gallery hours, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. The gallery, located at 82 Patton Avenue in Asheville, across from Pritchard Park, will host a reception for the artist on Friday, October 6, from 5-8 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited to stop by. Burgess declares she “loves to paint.” Whether using soft pastels en plein air or oil and cold wax, she energetically addresses wood, canvas, and paper with similar enthusiasm. While this show is about her view of places imagined and visited, she has also garnered recognition for her still life and portraiture. Most recently, she has been awarded for her landscapes in pastel. “The ordinary, quiet moments of daily living are often filled with common observances that I find quite lovely,” says the artist. “I want the viewer to breathe a sigh of joy or lose themselves in the environments I create when viewing my work or living with it. This often violent world needs more of the beautiful and this is what I offer. I want to share with you the things that delight me.” For this show, the viewer will be immersed in the images she happily produces in her home studio in Hendersonville, NC. Burgess also teaches workshops in oil or pastel. She exhibits her work at Asheville Gallery of Art and at Up Against the Wall Gallery, in Kingsport, TN. Her work hangs in private and corporate collections throughout the country. Burgess’ work, as well as the paintings of the other 30 gallery members will be on display and for sale through the month of October. For further information about this show, you can contact Asheville Gallery of Art at (828) 251-5796, visit the gallery website at www.ashevillegallery-of-art.com, or go to the gallery Facebook page.
