Asheville Parks and Recreation Offers New Arts Programs at W.C. Reid Center

ASHEVILLE, NC – Asheville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is offering four exciting new after-school programs for young people in grades K-12. Programs in moviemaking, improvisational theatre, and clay workshops are offered at the W.C. Reid Center for Cultural Arts located at 133 Livingston Street in Asheville.

Young people will work with six arts professionals to create unique stories in trend-setting, creative, and interactive programs including the "Reid Center Moviemakers", "Playback Theatre: Heroic Choices" and K-5 theatre and clay programs. All of the programs will collaborate, providing source materials, ideas, and energy to each other.

Program schedule:

  • Reid Center Moviemakers (Teens): 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday and Friday
  • PlayBack Theatre – Heroic Choices (Teens): 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursdays
  • Clay Workshop 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays
  • K-5 Theatre (K-5): 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays

These programs are inspiring, fun, informative, and unlike anything else available through the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department in the City of Asheville. Young people who want to explore their creative energies and personal stories will find a unique outlet in these programs.
