Leaf collection begins Nov. 3, 2008

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Unfortunately, the beautiful fall leaf season will soon be in its final days. The City of Asheville will be conducting bagged leaf collection twice a month during the season (length TBD).

Asheville city residents wishing for their leaves to be picked up should bag or contain all leaves and place them curbside by 7AM on the Monday morning of their scheduled collection week. The City asks residents to please not put leaves in storm drains or near storm grates.

Note: Asheville City ordinance bans the burning of leaves within the city limits. A popular alternative to bagging leaves is to use a mulching mower, which will provide your lawn with a mild compost. Also, leaves can be raked into piles and left to provide a good compost for Spring gardens!

Residents with questions can contact the sanitation department at (828) 251-1122.
