Asheville Guide's Third Movie Review of the Week Winner

(PRLEAP.COM) AshevilleNC.com user "lkane" has won the third weekly Best Movie Review Contest. Her review of Robin Williams's flick "Man of the Year" got her two free movie tickets to the theater of her choice. Below is the full text of her winning review:

“Robin Williams is one of my all-time favorite actors. And his role in Man of the Year did not disappoint. But maybe he could have or should have just done a one man act because the other actors and actresses in the movie left much to be desired. During the first 15-20 minutes of the movie I pondered exchanging my ticket for something else, but the beat finally picked up and Robin came through, as I knew he would. Laura Linney’s performance left a lot to be desired. She felt stiff and jittery throughout the movie. Understandably, she was running for her life in her role, but you just never felt comfortable when she was on-screen. Jeff Goldblum is another one of my favorite actors but his performance was less than stellar. If he could have maybe slowed down the spewing of his lines, it might have worked, but he sounded like he had consumed way too much coffee. Overall, although I found great humor in the digs on the political system and bravoed more than a few times, I would not give a thumbs up to Man of the Year nor would I suggest going to see it on the big screen.”

The competition was fierce with other great reviews of movies such as Samuel L. Jackson's “Snakes on a Plane” and Tim Robbins’ “Catch a Fire”. The Asheville Guide's movie review contest is a weekly event that anyone registered on the site can enter. Winners are picked every Thursday. Stop by the site’s movie section for more information on entering the contest.
