Description:
What’s new, what’s hot, which wines are folks talking about? Join us for this tasting to sample a trio of new and fantastic wines that are pleasing many palates. We’ve enjoyed a record summer of sales, and when you’re selling a lot of wine, you’ve got to stock a lot of wine. And you’ve got to keep it fresh with new selections from all parts of the globe. I’m confident that we do this job better than any other store in Western North Carolina. Come see us, and taste what I’m talking about. Taste, learn, and save every Friday at Table Wine! All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only. 1. 2017 Mas Janeil Les Hauts de Janeil Blanc (Roussillon, France) – Talk about the perfect blend! 60% Grenache Blanc contributes ripe and spicy notes of apricot and exotic white flowers, while 40% Sauvignon Blanc adds bright citrus and crisp acidity. The finished product is a ton of wine for the money. For fans of the Cercius Blanc, you’ve got to try this. 2. 2017 Fontanavecchia Falanghina Taburno (Campania, Italy) – Falanghina is one of Southern Italy’s oldest and most important white grapes, and Fontanavecchia makes one of the country’s best versions. Consumed liberally in Southern Italy with seafood, it offers up rich, yet zesty notes of peach and tropical fruits, along with hints of flowers and freshly cut grass. 3. 2017 La Bastide Blanche Bandol Rose (Provence, France) – I love me some Tempier Bandol Rose, but man, the price on that one has gone way up. No problem, La Bastide Blanche produces a wine that rivals Tempier, but costs half the price. Primarily Mourvedre, from old, organically farmed vineyards, this one shows the more powerful, intense side of dry rose. The 2017 hasn’t been reviewed yet, but it’s never scored lower than 90 points.

Talk about easy planning! The vine thrives in every nook and cranny throughout Italy, and Table Wine has the best selection of Italian wines in town. And we’re pulling the corks on some special reds for this free wine tasting. All you have to do is stop by, taste, learn, and save every Saturday at Table Wine. All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only. 1. 2017 Marziano Abbona Barbera “Casaret” (Piemonte, Italy) – Wow! This fresh and versatile Barbera, from Piemonte all-star Abbona, is crushable and interesting. Laced with notes of spice and floral-accented cherry, raspberry, and plum, it is medium-bodied, vibrant, and perfect for all sorts of meals. 2. 2013 Pruneto Chianti Classico (Tuscany, Italy) – Riccardo Lanza is putting the CLASSIC back into Chianti Classico. His 100% Sangiovese-based red is about as traditional and old-school as Chianti gets. Showing more savory notes of earth, herb, and spice as opposed to overt fruit, it will not please everyone, but I absolutely love it. Drink now or cellar for 10-15 years. 3. 2015 Padelletti Rosso di Montalcino (Tuscany, Italy) –In her excellent book ‘Brunello di Montalcino,’ Kerin O’Keefe writes ‘In Montalcino, there are traditionalists and there is Padelletti. This is one of Montalcino’s oldest families, and not much has changed here in 2 centuries. Farming is done organically, fermentations are carried out with native yeasts, and only older barrels are used for aging. The resulting wine is textbook Rosso at a great price. Tart cherry, red plum, mouthwatering acidity, and a long and very attractive palate.

With summer winding down, it’s time for our last dry rose tasting of 2018! Stop by, taste, and stock up on the best dry pink wines in town! Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking! I don’t like the end of dry rose season. In fact, I don’t think there should be a dry rose “season.” I drink the stuff all year long, but as summer transitions into fall, the selections dwindle. So we’re saying goodbye to some of our favorite dry roses, and you’re invited to the going away party. Stock up and save big……and save some dry rose for Thanksgiving. Dry pink wines are super with the festive meal! All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only. 1. 2017 Domaine des Diables “Le Petit Diable” (Provence, France) – This heavenly, Provencal rose is in fine form again this year. 60% Syrah, with the balance in Cinsault and Grenache, it’s fresh, dry, and super aromatic. Look for notes of watermelon, grapefruit, lime zest, and green herbs. 2. 2017 Domaine des Diables “BonBon” Rose (Provence, France) –This, my friends, is one of the most intense, aromatic, and delicious roses in the house. From extremely old vines planted in 1914, this blend of Cinsault, Syrah, and Grenache screams out of the glass with notes of raspberry, pink grapefruit, citrus zest, and more. 3. 2017 Chateau Puech-Haut Tete de Belier (Provence, France) –Made almost entirely from a direct pressing of Mourvedre, the Tête de Belier Rosé is one of the finest dry roses produced in Southern France. Despite its pale color, this is a wine brimming with stone fruit flavors, minerality and a hint of garrigue and bay laurel. Like many of the wines from Bandol – the inspiration for this cuvée – the Tête de Belier can age well in bottle, but who would want to wait?

Description:
I know we typically pour more wines for our Super Saturday Wine Tastings, but this tasting is less about quantity and more about quality. Join us to taste why Napa Valley is one of the best spots in the world to grown and make Cabernet Sauvignon. From richer and more opulent, valley floor Cabs to the more structured and powerful mountain-grown versions, all bases will be covered. And with prices averaging $40+ per bottle, this is a great and inexpensive way to sample some very special wines. Taste, learn, save at Table Wine All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only. 1. 2015 Scattered Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) – Debut vintage, 97 points from Great Britain’s Decanter, and a stellar value as well. “Roasted herb, coffee, black cherry and blackberry fruit compote on the nose. The palate is rich and concentrated but never heavy, with a lively acidity providing a sense of movement. Tannins are mighty and show that this will blossom with more time.” – Decanter – 97 points 2. 2014 Acumen Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) – From vineyards high atop Atlas Peak, this exudes pure class and sophistication. This full-bodied wine opens with aromas of violets, lavender, fresh rosemary, and espresso. On the palate we find flavors of black cherries, red plums, mountain blueberries, mission figs, and chocolate covered orange peel with sweet clay, freshly turned earth, and pencil shavings giving way to ripe, mouth-coating tannins on the long and powerful finish. 3.2015 Tamber Bey Cabernet Sauvignon “Deux Chevaux Vineyard” (Napa Valley, California) – I was looking for something like the Venge Cabernet Sauvignon, and I found it on my trip to California this past February! This relatively young producer’s single-vineyard Cab literally took my breath away when I tasted it. From benchland vineyards in Yountville, this is rich, creamy, opulent, and hedonistic Cabernet. Perfect with steak, but it doesn’t require food. Wait until you try it!! 4. 2016 Venge Silencieux Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) –This is a special treat, and what we believe to be the top value in premium Napa Cabernet. Kirk Venge makes larger-than-life wines, and his 2016 Silencieux Cabernet is no exception. From the hot and dry 2016 vintage, this one offers up classic notes of cassis, dark cherry, mocha and spicy, toasty oak. The last four vintages of this wine have garnered 94-95 point scores in the Wine Advocate — this one will be no exception!
