It’s the last Saturday of October, and that means it’s time for our next Super Saturday Wine Tasting. Join us as we wind down our Pinot Noir Week and Sale to pull the corks on some top domestic Pinot Noirs from California and Oregon. It’s just four wines, but trust me, it’s worth it! Just $5 to try 4 incredible domestic Pinot Noirs. Free for Grape Nuts — click here to learn more about our VIP club. Asheville’s Best Wine Tasting — Just stop by, we’ve got plenty of free parking! Sometimes, less is more. We usually pour more offerings for our Super Saturday Wine Tastings, but this installment is going to be all about quality, and less about quantity. Join us to taste and understand why California and Oregon are two of best spots in the world to grow and craft Pinot Noir. From the richer and more opulent versions from California’s Sonoma Coast to the more complex and earthy versions from Oregon’s Willamette Valley, we’ll have all bases covered. And with prices averaging $40+, this is a great opportunity to taste greatness without having to spend much money. Taste, learn, save every Saturday at Table Wine. All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only. 1. 2015 Cristom Pinot Noir “Mt. Jefferson Cuvée” (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – Based near Salem, Oregon, in the Eola-Amity Hills section of the Willamette Valley, Cristom’s wine enjoy a cult following. Winemaker Steve Doerner trained under Josh Jensen at Calera as well as under Jacques Seysses of Burgundy’s Domaine Dujac. “The nose is fresh and shows great depth with raspberry crumble, dried wild strawberries, orange peel and milk chocolate shavings. Medium- to full-bodied with lots of spicy, crunchy red fruit, tangy acidity, firm tannins and a long finish. So good now but better in 2019.” – James Suckling – 95 points 2. 2016 Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir “Old Vines” (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – Simply put, Jim Maresh crafts some of our country’s best Pinot Noirs, and this is a new one for him. A blend of grapes from his family’s old Maresh Vineyard along with fruit from the neighboring Weber Vineyard, this recently was one of the top scoring Oregon Pinots of the vintage. “Pale to medium ruby in color, the 2016 Pinot Noir Old Vines has a lovely pure nose of pink peppercorn, dried black tea leaves, red and black licorice and violets with dried cranberries, red cherries and layers and layers of spice.” – Wine Advocate – 96 points 3. 2016 Failla Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast, California) – Former Turley winemaker Ehren Jordan runs this fantastic estate, which produces richer-styled, yet balanced Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays from top Sonoma Coast sites. His “basic” 2016 bottling is sensational! “The 2016 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is laced with the essence of blood orange, bright red fruit, mint and white pepper. Medium in body, gracious and lifted, the Sonoma Coast Pinot has so much to offer. Year in, year out, Failla’s Sonoma Coast Pinot is one of the very best wines in its price range. Don’t miss it.” – Antonio Galloni – Vinous Media 4. Surprise Wine –This is a special treat, as Vinous Media had this as one of their top-rated California Pinot Noirs of the ’15 vintage! You’ll have to stop by to see what it is and taste it. But trust me, it’s worth the price of entry!

Join FERMENTI. founder Meg Chamberlain, for an instructional journey through the basic understanding of handcrafting your own fermented, lactic-bacteria, probiotic-rich foods. In this class you'll learn why you need them in your diet and how this form of preservation cuts food waste, food budgets and increases nutritional value. Everyone will get to taste several Fe...rmenti samples and will leave with an understanding of how to ferment with ease and accessibility in the comfort of your home. *$20 per person. Includes A 2-hour Discussion, Tasting and Demos with email support after the class. Meg Chamberlain holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from the Corcoran College Of Art and Design among other accreditations. In 2007, Meg and husband Lars began primitive homesteading in Missouri without the use of power and running water. From these conditions, a unified understanding of how traditional food preservation could be modernized without losing its heritage was identified and food waste practices were explored. At FERMENTI. we help connect you to that amazing past by teaching traditional Lactic Bacteria fermentation of vegetable ingredients and how they can help us preserve our future! Please join us and help bring this tradition back to life!
