Joe Dunn said he was dropping out of the race for Buncombe County Commissioner. An e-mail was sent from his campaign to his supporters, stating he needed to place family ahead of politics. Dunn has not announced his decision publicly, however, a member of the Asheville Republican party confirmed that he indeed was no longer in the running. It is not known whether another Republican will be able to get on the ballot before elections in November.
Dunn stated in his e-mail that he was very frustrated with Asheville city government and that elected officials worry to much about tax payers and not enough about citizens. The former candidate does plan to return all contributions to his campaign.
