City Manager Reports Findings of Investigation into Personnel Complaint

ASHEVILLE NC – On Tuesday, July 11, 2013, Asheville City Council held a special meeting to consider a matter relating to an employee of the City.   Council went into closed session to receive a final report on the investigation of a complaint, charge, or grievance against an individual public officer or employee.

City Council reconvened in open session where a resolution was passed authorizing the City Manager to disclose certain personnel information surrounding an administrative investigation, in accordance with general statutes, as it was deemed essential to maintaining public confidence in City services, in particular the services provided by the Police Department.

City Council to Hold Meeting in East Asheville

ASHEVILLE NC – Asheville City Council will hold a community meeting in East Asheville Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the theater of Haw Creek Elementary School at 21 Trinity Chapel Road in East Asheville.  Area residents and city staff will share presentations on city and community initiatives in East Asheville. A public input session will follow the presentations.  City Council and the presenters will be available to answer questions and take comments at that time.

The main parking lot for the school can be accessed from Bethesda Road off Old Haw Creek Road.  Additional parking is available from Trinity Chapel Road.

City Council to hold North Asheville community meeting at UNC-A Sherrill Center

ASHEVILLE, NC – Asheville City Council will hold a community meeting in North Asheville Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The meeting will be held at the new Wilma Sherrill Center on the campus of UNC-A.  Area residents, Chancellor Ann Ponder and city staff will share presentations on city and community initiatives in North Asheville. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.  City Council and the presenters will be available to answer questions and take comments.

Members of the public interested in viewing the new Wilma Sherrill Center and learning more about the activities it will house are invited to arrive at 5:30 p.m. for a pre-meeting tour of the building.

Directions to the Wilma Sherrill Center (Kimmel Arena):

From I-26 (19/23) to exit 25 (UNC Asheville exit):  Take a right onto Broadway.  Make your first left at the traffic light onto Campus Drive.  Follow it up the hill approximately a half mile.  Take a right at the stop sign and then another right into the lower level of the Sherrill Center parking deck. There will be signs to guide you to the parking area.

From Merrimon:  Take Edgewood Road to the campus and take the first right onto University Heights.  Take the second left just before the bulldog statue in front of the Justice Center.  The parking deck for the Sherrill Center will be your first left.
