Grove Park Inn Golf Tournament to Salute Local Firefighters, Police Officers, and EMS Workers

ASHEVILLE, NC – The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa is holding a special golf tournament to benefit the Asheville Fire Department’s Fallen Firefighters Fund. On Monday September 12, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., firefighters, police officers and EMS workers who present their badge can play 18 holes of golf at The Grove Park Inn’s award winning, Donald Ross designed course for a $25 donation. Volunteers will also be stationed at the golf course collecting donations until 2 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Fallen Firefighters Fund, set up by the Asheville Fire Department and Mission Health System to assist the family of Capt. Jeff Bowen, an Asheville firefighter who was killed in the line of duty on July 28, 2011, as well as firefighters who were injured that day.

In support of this golf fundraiser, Grove Park Inn employees will also be selling hot dogs and soft drinks, with proceeds benefitting the Fund. There will also be a raffle for a round of golf, a one night stay at the legendary Grove Park Inn, and other great prizes. Indoor Mini Golf Tournament to Benefit Special Olympics

ASHEVILLE, NC – Come on out, play some mini golf, and help Special Olympics at the same time!

The 1st Annual Indoor Mini Golf Tournament is Sunday, May 1 from 1 – 6 p.m. at Biltmore Square Mall. Registration fees are:

  • $65 per 4 person team
  • $20 per person for teams registered by April 22.

After April 22 and on the day of the Tournament:

  • $70 per 4 person team
  • $25 per person

In addition to indoor Mini Golf, the event will feature:

  • Live Music donated by Scenic Roots
  • A Silent Auction and Raffle tickets for sale
  • Door Prizes Every ½ Hour
  • Goody Bags for all Golfers
  • A Hole-in-One Contest ($2 per shot or $5 for 3)
  • Mulligans/Do-Overs that can be purchased in advance

All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Spring Games and the athletes who participate.

Spring Games will take place on Thursday, May 5 at T.C. Roberson High School.

The Mini-Golf Course is donated by Sweet Tee Mini Golf and the space to hold the tournament is donated by Biltmore Square Mall. Special Olympics Buncombe County is sponsored by Buncombe County Parks, Greenways and Recreation Services.

Eddie Biedenbach Celebrity Golf Classic Slated for Sept. 14

ASHEVILLE, NC – The Eddie Biedenbach Celebrity Golf Classic will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. The shotgun start will begin at 11 a.m. with all proceeds going to the UNC Asheville Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund.

The cost of one player is $500. One player and a tee-sponsorship is $800. A team of four players is $2,000, while a team and tee-sponsorship is $2,250. Each team will play with a celebrity.

Highlights for the players include a VIP reception on Sept. 13 at the Ramble Living Well Center. There will be a continental breakfast for the player at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove starting at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 14, followed by an awards dinners after the golf at The Doubletree Hotel at 5:30 p.m.

Confirmed celebrities former NFL quarterback Brad Johnson and college basketball coaches Bobby Cremins (College of Charleston) and Jeff Bzdelik (Wake Forest). Last year’s celebrities included college basketball head coaches’ Rick Barnes (Texas) and Bob McKillop (Davidson) plus TV analysts Billy Packer and Jay Bilas.

Adult and Child Miniature Golf Tournament to be Held April 10

ASHEVILLE, NC – The Fifth Annual Adult/ Child Miniature Golf Tournament is on Saturday, April 10, 2010. The Tournament will be held at Tropical Gardens Mini Golf at 956 Patton Avenue and is open to teams consisting of one adult and one child.

The Miniature Golf Tournament is from 1 – 3 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to the top three best scoring teams.

The cost is $15 per team of one adult and one child and includes 36 holes of golf. Children ages 5 to 16 are eligible to be partnered with an adult to compete for some splendid trophies. Teams can sign up at Tropical Gardens Mini Golf on the day of the Tournament.
